FORT WORTH - Hetty Vickers Byars, 83, a retired supervisor for Pangburn Candy Co., died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at an Arlington care center.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday in the Chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. The Rev. Theresa Luby, a chaplain with Community Hospice of Texas, will officiate. Burial: Following committal services, Hetty will be laid to rest next to her husband, Dub, in Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Memorials: Those desiring, please make memorial contributions in Hetty's name to Community Hospice of Texas; or to a charity of choice.

A native and lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Hetty Jane Vickers was born June 29, 1918, the daughter of Don and Maudie Capps Vickers. She married Rufus William "Dub" Byars Jr. on July 4, 1936, a marriage that lasted 47 years with Mr. Byars' death in 1983.

Hetty was a graduate of Central High School, now R.L. Paschal, and a former member of Temple Christian Church. She retired from Pangburn Candy Co.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son in-law, W. Dean Criss; and brother, Ralph Vickers.

Survivors: Daughter, Jackie Byars Criss; granddaughter, Sherri Criss-Russell and her husband, Billy; grandson, Dean Criss Jr.; great-grandchildren, Brendan Criss, Kaitlyn Russell and Jon-Morgan Russell; brother, J.D.
