Arthur Leon Archer, son of Edward C. and Mary Archer, was born at Staplehurst, Nebr., September 25, 1889, and passed away at his home in Seward April 5, 1949, at the age of 59 years, five months, and eight days.
"Buff," as he was known to his friends,received his education in the Staplehurst schools and attended the Presbyterian Sunday school there. He played on the Staplehurst ball team. He learned the carpenter trade, in which he excelled as a cabinet maker. He followed this trade and had his own shop until two major operations in 1946 forced him to sell out and retire.
He was married to Hazel Campbell on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1915, who with their son, Jack survive him. He also leaves five sisters: Miss Maude Archer, Eustis, Florida; Mrs. Jessie Noxon, Los Angeles, California; Mrs.Dollye Norwood, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Daisy Varner, Hamilton, Montana, and Mrs. Verna Woody, SEattle, Washington, none of whom were able to be present at the funeral services. His death was the result of a heart attack.
He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed in his home. Funeral services were held at the Wood Brothers mortuary at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, in charge of Rev. C.L. Cody of the United Brethren church. Organ music was furnished by Mrs. Vera Luhe. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery. The pall bearers were Everett Miers, Clell Miers, Herman Miers, Shug Miers, William Kipp and Lee Marr.
