A.J. married 1) Mattie Frances McCaghren (1917-2012) about 1936; they later divorced.

ALVIN "AJ" LENART, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep, after a long illness, on Monday May 19, 2003. He was born on March 12, 1912 in West, Texas to Charlie and Angeline Lenart.

He is survived by his loving wife, Stephine; his children, M. Carolyn and husband William T. Peterson, James C. (Jimmy) Lenart and wife Ellen, Virginia E. (Jeanie) and husband Roy E. Dittfurth, M. Kathryn (Kathie) and husband Michael W. Dishman and Diane F. and husband Larry A. Weikel.

He was proud of his 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Hattie (Peggy) Deiterman and Angeline Dudley. Most people knew him as "AJ". He loved to dance, sing and listen to Czech music; this stayed with him until his passing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #2917 for many years and a lifetime member of S.P.J.S.T.

As a self-taught carpenter, he built many beautiful homes in the Houston area and built his family home in 1945, which is still in the Heights. He will be sorely missed by his loved ones and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 21, 2003 beginning at 5:00 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Boulevard, with a Rosary/Vigil service scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus and Sister Eleanor Dickmann, O.S.B. participating.

The funeral mass will be Thursday May 22, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 215 E. 10th Street, with Rev. Msgr. Adam S. McCloskey celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Westheimer. Pallbearers will be James C. Lenart, Jr., William T. Peterson, IV, Bradley C. Peterson, Scott H. Dishman, Brent N. Weikel and Duane D. Weikel.
