Death came at about 9:15 o'clock and was attributed to a heart attack. Mrs. Smith had had a very active day Thursday, having visited a beauty shop, lunch with her daughter, Mrs. Hazel A. Harrison, shopped in Orleans in the afternoon and called at the home of her mother, Mrs. Druzinda McNeely, also of Mitchell.
As she was retiring, Mrs. Smith complained to her husband that she could not get her breath and he helped her to sit up at the side of the bed, but she soon collapsed and death followed shortly.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday from the Haverly mortuary with the Rev. Roland I. Secrist of the Christian church officiating. Burial will be made in the Mitchell cemetery.
Following death, the body was removed from the funeral home for burial preparation and this afternoon was returned to the residence to lie in state until 10 o'clock Sunday morning when it will be returned to the Haverly mortuary to remain until the funeral hour.
A native of Washington county, Mrs. Smith was born February 20, 1883 to William B. and Druzinda Collier McNeely. She was united in marriage April 28, 1901, with Oliver R. Smith. They had lived in Mitchell for 35 years.
