She was born July 1, 1881, at Big Cottonwood, Salt Lake County, Utah, daughter of Mason and Emily Jane Griffin Cole.
The family moved to the Garfield area where she grew up. In 1896 she was married to John M. McCullough in Rigby and they homesteaded in that area. The couple separated in 1921 and she spent several years working in Idaho and Utah.
She married William Howell in Pocatello and they lived in Washington and Alaska. He later died.
Mrs. Howell worked as a seamstress in a factory in San Francisco, Calif. for many years and then returned to Idaho where she was a railroad cook before retiring. She lived in Idaho Falls for many years.
She is survived by three sons, Maldon M. McCullough, Boise; Herman McCullough, Terreton; Floyd McCullough, Pocatello, and one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Jewell) Fisher, Idaho Falls; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edna McCullough, Rigby, Mrs, Vida Wilkins, Ucon; one brother, Rufus B. Cole, Idaho Falls.
