Allen A. Schwoerer, age 68, of Eau Claire died on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 surrounded by his family after a courageous fight with cancer.
Allen was born on October 14, 1942, son of the late Erwin and Edna (Neuhaus) Schwoerer in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Allen graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. On June 30, 1962, Allen married his high school sweetheart, Patricia "Pat" Matte, having their marriage blessed at Saint Andrew's Church in Manitowoc.
He moved to Minneapolis, MN where he graduated from Humboldt Airline School and was employed by Investors Diversified in the printing department. Allen was sales manager for Continental Coffee Co. moving to Rochester, MN and then transferring to Fargo, ND where leaving Continental and went into sales for "Falls Homes." Allen and Pat became active with the Fargo Jaycees enjoying all their projects they were involved with and where Allen served as a chaplain. They have and had so many dear friends in Fargo - this was one of their best moves along the way. Leaving Fargo to pursue his sales career, he and Pat moved to Eau Claire in 1976 where he became Sales Manager of Town and Country Housing, always being the top salesman within the company.
During a short retirement, Al and Pat traveled to many interesting places, always enjoying their time together. Allen then opened his own family business in Eau Claire with his son's Randy and Greg as his foremen and Pat as office manager. Closing the business to retire gave him more time to enjoy his grandchildren's baseball and football games and visit his grandson and family in Colorado.
Allen enjoyed tennis; playing mixed doubles with Pat and men's doubles. A special thank you to a dear friend, Steven Erickson, who has always been there for Al when he needed him.
Allen is survived by his wife and soul mate of 48 years, Pat; son, Randall J. (Kristie) Schwoerer and grandchildren, Katie, Noah, of Eau Claire, Jason (Kristy) Larson of Minneapolis; son, Gregory A. (Amy) Schwoerer and grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Baylie of Chippewa Falls; daughter, Deborah K. (Steven) Faber and grandson, Maxwell, of Henderson, CO; brothers, James (Jean) of Manitowoc, and Brian of Indiana; sister, Eileen (Jim) Brey of Whitelaw, WI; many nieces; nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas.
Without our family and friends, this journey would have been longer for all of us. But with the love and prayers from everyone, Allen's leaving us was made more peaceful for him to join his maker in Heaven. Thank you to Hospice and Sacred Heart Staff- Dr. David Schifeling- for all their wonderful care.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altoona with the Father Joseph Redfern officiating.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home (on Golf Road one block east of Hwy 93) and also 1/2 hour prior to mass at church. Interment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
