Cyrus Coffin was born on May 19, 1867 and died on October 18, 1903 of typhoid fever. He was the son of Milton Coffin and Melvina (Trees) Coffin. Their children were Elma Irene (Ralph) Hufferd, Edith Marie (Thomas) Eskew, John Milton (C. Mae) Coffin. Daughter Lorene preceded him in death in 1901.

OBITUARY - Shelby Republican, Shelbyville, IN, Friday, October 23, 1903:
Cyrus E. Coffin, aged 37 years, died of typhoid fever at 3:40 a.m. Monday at the home of his father-in-law, Squire John Dearinger, Walker township. He was taken ill at his home in Shelbyville but was brought to the Dearinger home about two weeks ago. Three children, two girls and a boy, are now left without father or mother. The funeral service will be conducted at Pleasant Ridge M. E. church by Rev. William Northam. Burial in the church cemetery. -- Rushville Jacksonian
