OBITUARY
Jesse Jason Hopwood, son of Isaac Hopwood and Luella Berry Hopwood, born March 23, 1888, passed away July 5, 1945, age 57 years, 3 months and 12 days, at St. Edward's Hospital, New Albany. He was a native of Otisco, Clark County, where he spent the greater part of his life as a farmer and carpenter. In early life he united with the Mt. Moriah Advent Church later moving his membership to the Otisco Methodist Church where he served as trustee.
On March 20, 1913, he was united in marriage to Florence L. Barratt. To this union were born two sons and four daughters. One son dying in infancy.
Surviving are: Raymond L. Hopwood and Mrs. Ella Faye Shelburne, who live at home; Mrs. Allilda Evans of Otisco; Mrs. Katherine Mahan of Indianapolis; Mrs. Martha Jackson of New Washington; and four grandchildren. He leaves four brothers and six sisters, three sisters having preceded him in death. Brothers: Vorhees, Rolla and Lee, of Indianapolis; Benjamin of Otisco; sisters, Mrs. Katherine Gobin, Mrs. Laurel Kern and Mrs. Allilda Daily of Fowler, Ind.; Mrs. Ruby Chappell of Kokomo, Ind.; Mrs. Fanny DeCamp and Mrs. Pearl Stoner of Otisco.
Also surviving are many other relatives, friends and neighbors.
He was a kind and devoted husband and father and will be sadly missed by all.
"There is no flock, however watched and tended,
But one dead lamb is there;
There is no fireside, howso'er defended,
But has one vacant chair."

We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to our neighbors, friends and relatives for their kindness and help in the sickness and death of our dear husband and father, Mr. Jesse J. Hopwood. We also, thank the undertaker, the pall bearers, the singers, those who gave the beautiful floral offerings, and Rev. James M. Austin and Rev.
