John W. GOODWIN was born in Highland Township, Greene County, December 17, 1852. He was the third child of Abner and Darthulia GOODWIN. He was married to Eliza COOPER in 1875. They had two daughters, Frona and Myrtle. And for many years they had a happy home, but death, visited there July 7, 1916, and Myrtle was no more on earth.

His entire life was spent in Highland Township, with the exception of one year, which he spent in Kansas. His was an industrious life. He was a successful farmer and had good health until January 24, then blood poisoning came, the result of a scratch on the hand, and everything was done that could be, yet he suffered much and died January 31.

He told them he would like to live longer but that he thought his time had come, and expressed no fear of death; that there were many gone before that he would like to meet.

He was a good neighbor, and will be greatly missed.

He leaves his wife and grandson, Clovis in the home, and Mrs. Burton JESSUP of Jefferson Township, the remaining daughter. Also two brothers George and Oliver GOODWIN, both of Highland Township, and two sisters Mrs. Elmira BLAND, of Worthington and Mrs. Cletus MOORE, of Waltsburg, Wash., and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at Calvertsville church February 2, conducted by Rev. TRUSTY, of Worthington. Interment in the Goodwin Cemetery.
