ELMIRA — Darrell H. "Bud" Olsen of Elmira died Aug. 6 of age-related causes. He was 89. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
He was born June 12, 1922, in Walton. He married Marjorie Thomas on June 24, 1951, in Noti.
He served during World War II in the 53rd Naval Construction Battalion. He worked as a lumber grader for International Paper Co., and raised cattle and grew strawberries on his small farm.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Rod of Springfield, Gary of Vancouver, Wash., and Don and Ron, both of Eugene; a brother, Harold of Eugene; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
