LaVerne was the first child born Jun 11, 1919 to Benjamin F Brush and Alice G Fanning Brush, in Huckabay, Erath, Texas.
The family moved to Fort Worth in 1921 where Binnie worked for Swift and Company. LaVerne graduated from Northside High School in 1936. Her nickname in her highschool anual was "blue eyes"
She married Bill Clark Mar 13, 1937 and they had 2 daughters. Alice Latanne and Virginia Lee Clark. Bill left town after a continuous divorce in 1950.
This was in a time when women didn't get divorces as often. Mother had to raise us on her own. There was no financial aid from the government then. We moved in with my grandmother Alice Stocker after her 2nd husband Burt Stocker died in 1954, and LaVerne found work at Chanse Vought. Shewas able to work as many hours as she could to pay all of the bills. Sometime she would get up at 4:00 in the morning on Satuday and go to the bus stop in the dark to catch a bus to Grand Prairie to work overtime at Vought Aircraft Corp. The Navy aircraft builder had many name changes. She was able to buy her first car in 1956. For many years she was able to car pool. She never complained about working because she was so glad to have a job.
We all three slept in the same bed until we were married. Mother said she would never marry again because she said if our own daddy didn't want us then she was not going to have some other man telling us what to do. I really appreciate her for that.
LaVerne remarried to Tony Wilson in Jun 1971. They were happy together and after she retired they traveled all over the world and enjoyed their retirement. My Mother died instantly from a heart attack at home. I had just talked to her on the phone and she was looking forward to the Cowboys play in the Superbowl the next day, on Jan 17, 1993.
