Clara I. Borlaug was buried in the Highland cemetery following funeral services on Friday. November 29, at 2 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church in Havre.
Mrs. Borlaug, 61, a lifetime resident of the Gildford area, died in Havre, November 26. Conducting the funeral services was Pastor Jerome Elness. Pastor Rodney Kvamme sang, "Behold a Host," and "How Great Thou Art." The organist was Donna Ellison. Kenneth Engelbretson, Lloyd Bakke, Percy Nordrum, Art Bert, Leonard Grimes, and Francis Kurtz were the pallbearers. Ushers were Monty and Roger Borlaug.
Mrs. Borlaug was born south of Gildford March 22, 1913. She was raised in the area, graduating from Gildford High School.
On June 29, 1935 she married George O. Borlaug in Hingham, and the couple made their home near Gildford.
Active in the Kremlin Lutheran Mission circle, Mrs. Borlaug also belonged to the Sons of Norway Lodge.
Among survivors are her husband; daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Selma) Shelstad, Box Elder, and Mrs. Lloyd (Sonya) Vande Sandt, Gildford; sons, Carol O. Borlaug of Havre and Martin G. Borlaug, stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Vivian Kakurada, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
