Robert L. Thompson, 59, of Fort Wayne, a retired bus driver, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Arbors of Fort Wayne.

The Fort Wayne native worked for the Allen County Highway Department for 10 years, the Public Transportation Circuit for 13 years, and L&L Travel Summitt Coach for two years, before retiring in 1995. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and singing.

"He loved people and being behind the wheel of a bus."

Surviving are his wife, Margaret E.; daughters Sue of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Tammie of Fort Wayne; stepson, Delbert Springer of Fort Wayne; stepdaughters Deidre Wayer and Jennifer Hakes, both of Fort Wayne; sisters Marlene Hamilton and Bonnie Elder, both of Fort Wayne, and Dorothy Lehman of Sturgis, Mich.; his foster-father, Paul Spuller of Fort Wayne; foster-sister, Julie Getz of Poe; foster-brother, James Spuller of Indianapolis; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 Wells St., with calling from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
