He married Anna Ruth Ashe on 20 December 1942 at Fort Worth.

Mr. Black served in the US Army as a captain during World War II. He was president of Bill Black Insurance Agency and had been active in the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas for 15 years and served as president from 1986-1987.

He was past president of Travelers Texas Agents Council and was a member of the Texas National Agents Council.

An active member of the community, he was director of the Texas American Bank of Breckenridge, president of Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, past president of Lions Club, past commander of American Legion, district administrator of Little League for 10 years, area representative for Texas A&M Former Students.

He was a Mason, elder of First Christian Church, serving as board chair several times.

Mr. Black was a veteran of the US Army during World War II. He was a member of VFW and Elks Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
