Leland Lester Schneider was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Pearl (Kopplin) Schneider, and by Kay, his first wife of 60 years. Leland grew up in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from Brackenridge High School in 1942, he and two of his close friends enlisted in the Merchant Marines. He was then employed by Civil Service to work at Kelly Air Force Base where he earned many citations and awards during his 30-year career.
