METROPOLIS, Ill. ­— Mrs. Lillian O. Barnett, 103, of Metropolis, formerly of the Hillerman Community in Massac County, passed away Saturday, August 6th, at 7:05 p.m. at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

She was born February 19, 1908, in Hillerman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leona Snyder; and her husband, Leslie Barnett.

She had been a member of Hillerman Baptist Church since 1922. She was a homemaker and always enjoyed having her family and friends join her for a meal. She worked at Anna State Hospital for several years and retired in 1972.

Survivors include her five children, Norma (Donald) Travis of Metropolis, Robert (Shirley) Barnett of Peoria, Calvin (Mary) Barnett of Karnak, Ronald (Susan) Barnett of Carterville and Kathy (Paul) Gill of Vilonia, Ark.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Elaine Pretzsch, Janice Farmer, Linda Burlison, Cindy Wheaton, Stephen Barnett, Greg Barnett, Jeff Barnett, Eddie Barnett, Jerry Barnett, Laura Fletcher, Steven Barnett and Eric Brim; as well as her many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9th, at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. The Rev. Don Labrot will be officiating and visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lower Salem Cemetery in Karnak.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillerman Baptist Church. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
