LAKE HOPATCONG - Beatrice May Doherty of Lake Hopatcong died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Andover Subacute & Rehabilitation Center II in Andover Township. She was 81.

Born in Otisville, N.Y., Mrs. Doherty was a longtime Stillwater resident before moving to Lake Hopatcong six years ago.

She was a home health aide before her retirement.

Mrs. Doherty attended the Harmony Hill United Methodist Church in Stillwater.

Her parents, Phineas and Viola Gould Baird, died previously. Her two brothers and three sisters all died previously.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mildred Elizabeth Owens of Franklin and Shirley May Murphy of Lake Hopatcong; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Audrey Rich of Glassport, Pa.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Harmony Hill United Methodist Church, 919 Fairview Lake Road, in Stillwater.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Memorial donations may be made to the Harmony Hill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 115, Stillwater, N.J. 07875.
