He was born to Hattie and Edward Titus Sponberg Sr. on July 12, 1923, in Austin. Mr. Sponberg graduated from the University of Texas in Austin; he was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity. He served in the infantry during World War II.
Mr. Sponberg worked in the oil industry for 30 years before starting his own business in the oil industry in the Houston area. He was a member of Unity Church of Houston. After his retirement he moved to Sedona, Ariz., then to Greenville lin 1994.
Mr. Sponberg is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sponberg of Greenville; two sons, Edward T. Sponberg III of Houston and Mark A. Sponberg of Conroe; two sisters, Valene Slaid and Doris Ellis, both of Houston and two grandchildren.
His parents and one brother, Wilber Sponberg, preceded him in death.
