Our community this morning learned with pain of the death of Mrs. J.W. Collins, which occurred last night few minutes after 9 o'clock. The fact that Mrs. Collins was dangerously ill was not generally known by the people and the many old time residents, who had known her here for more than twenty-seven years, were sadly surprised.

From all with whom The Boomerang representative talked today it was learned that Mrs. Collins was a highly respected Christian woman, the mother of a large family by whom she was deeply beloved and who will grieve her departure from the family circle in the sunset of life, when her declining years could have been devoted to rest.

Mrs. Collins was a native of Missouri, and was a descendant of some of the earliest settlers and historical pioneers of that commonwealth. She came to Laramie with her husband in the spring of 1868, the journey being made in the then tedious overland manner. She has always been an active assistant to Mr. Collins, who has been engaged in business and ranching from the earliest days of settlement here.

Her death was the result of a tumor with complications, from which she suffered greatly. She has now fallen asleep, like the brave who sink to rest. She leaves six children, besides her husband. Mrs. Boulton and Mrs. Crocker reside in Iowa; Mrs. Wheat, Mrs. Percy and Mrs. Costin in this city and a son, Samuel, is a resident of Evanston, and is in the city.

The funeral will take place from the house, corner of Second and Custer streets, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Jacob .Norris officiating. The deceased was 63 years of age.
