Mr. Bales was pronounced dead on arrival at Ball Hospital, where he was rushed in a private automobile after being stricken at the golf course.
He was a native of Terre Haute and had been in business in Muncie for the last 10 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge No. 245, American Legion Post 19, AmVets Post 12, Green Hills Country Club, Furniture Club of American and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy for 22 months.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by the Parson Mortuary and will be announced later.
