Obituary
Charles Henry Stahl was born in Ostelsheim, Germany, July 5, 1849. He died March 18, 1914, aged 64 years, 8 months and 13 days. He was baptized in his infancy, and after proper instruction in the doctrines and duties of our Christian religion was received into full membership of Zion Reformed church on Sept. 25, 1868, by the rite of confirmation at the hands of Rev. Jesse Schlosser.

He remained a member of Zion church until his removal to Colver when his membership was transferred to Grace Reformed church, of which be remained a member until his death. He was married to Miss Charity Shaw Nov. 25, 1886, by Rev. P. J. Spangler. This union was blessed with four children, one of whom died in infancy.

Those remaining are Esther B., Mrs. Della C. May and Russell. Mr. Stahl bad many positions of trust and honor in the church and in public life. For a number of years he was treasurer of the joint consistory of the Culver charge and gave the work his most careful atttention. He served for a number of years as a member of the town council and also several terms as a member of the school board, of which be was president at the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his death a wife, three children, one graudchild, one brother, Rev. J . P. Stahl of Alliance, 0., three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Zechiel, Mrs. Wm. Zecbiel and Mrs. Louis Zechiel, all of Culver, a large number of other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral service at the Reformed church on Friday afternoon was largely attended. The public school was dismissed and the high school students were present in a body. The services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Michael, assisted by Rev. Walker. The music was rendered by the church choir. The pallbearers were George Zechiel, Zina Duddleson, Peter Keller, S. G. Buswell, D. H . Smith and Henry Overman. The body was laid away in Zion cemetery. A great abundance of flowers gave fragrant expression to the esteem and affection of friends and relatives. Among the offerings were an elaborate piece from the high school and beautiful collections from the men's bible class in the Reformed Sunday school, Mrs. Stahl's bible class and from the W. C. T. U. Those present at the funeral from out of town were Rev. aod Mrs. Jacob Stahl of Alliance, 0., Albert Gehring of Hammond, Mrs. McCormick, Mrs. Arthur Underwood, Mr. and .Mrs. J. H. Willey, Alfred Lawrence and Joseph White of Plymouth, Mrs. Christina Miller of Bourbon, Otto Zechiel of Van Buren, Mrs. J. Ginther, Mr. and Mrs. D Castleman, and Mrs. Ed Shadel of Delong, Mrs. Sarah Lowe, James Shaw and family, Mrs. Jobo Thompson, Miss Josie Thompson, Mr. and .Mrs. C. E Lowe and daughter Effie and Walter Shivers of the Santa Anna neighborhood, Mr. and Mrs Fred Graber of Rochester, Ed Wolfram of Hamlet, Wm and Joseph Shaw of Knox, Mrs. Becknell and Mrs Emma White of Plymouth, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Simmons of Santa Anna, Mr. and Mrs. J . E. DeMont, Monterey. --
