CRAB ORCHARD - Earl Miller Smith, 88, of Broughtontown, died Friday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington.
Born Sept. 29, 1917, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Sara E. Brown Smith. He was a World War II Army veteran, a farmer and a construction worker. He was a member of the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post No. 18, Cleve Dun VFW Post No. 7101 and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Reynolds Smith; two sons, David and Donald Smith, both of Crab Orchard; three daughters, Sheila Kilgore of Nashville, Tenn., and Marily Carman and Marlene Brown, both of Crab Orchard; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Smith.
Services will be 1 p. m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home by Vola Brown. Burial will be in Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Brown, Denny and Joseph Smith, Shane Carman and Roy Sharp. Visitation will be after 5 p. m. Monday.
