Bill Wade, son of Conrad and Stella Wade, grew up on a farm near Peoria, AZ. Bill graduated from Peoria High School in 1933 and enrolled at the University of Arizona where he was a student, a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and a champion swimmer. Bill was on a swim team and held the state 100-meter freestyle swimming record for six years. In 1934, Bill was on the Arizona All-Star Water Polo Team that competed against the US Olympic Team. In 1985 and 1986, Bill won six gold medals for swimming in the Arizona Senior Olympics. Bill met Geraldine Pomeroy at the University of Arizona and married Geraldine (Jerry) on March 28,1937. Bill and Jerry had five children, two daughters and three sons. Bill was a dedicated employee of Arizona Public Service, a major power company in Arizona, for forty four years before retiring. Bill was an officer in the Men's Club at Lafayette Elementary School in Phoenix, AZ when many member's of the Men's Club planned, organized, and installed the baseball lights on the baseball field for generations of kids to use and enjoy. Lafayette School in Phoenix is now called Larry C. Kennedy School after Larry Kennedy, former Principal. Bill enjoyed and was proud of his beloved Jerry, his kids, and his Grandkids. Bill enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, boating, swimming, and hiking. Bill, a very good person with high ethical standards, was a concerned Dad who loved his family.
