Sophia M. Ritterling, daughter of
Heinrich and Anna Huhner Hoops was
born on January 28, 1904, at Byron, and
died at Thayer County Memorial Hospital
in Hebron, on October 26, 1984 at the age of
80 years, eight months and 28 days.
She was united in marriage to Werner
Ritterling on February 27,1927, and to this
union five sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her
parents: her husband, Werner on August 3,
1983; four brothers: Henry, Herman, Fred
and Albert Hoops; one sister, Emma
Hoops.
She is survived by five sons, Norman
of Napoleon, Ohio, Lawrence of Byron,
Marvin of Massilon, Ohio, Orville of
Farmington, Mich., and Verland of
Plymouth, Wise; two sisters, Mrs. Anna
Marquart of Byron, Mrs. Marie Moerer of
Johnson, Nebr.; one brother, Edwin Hoops
of Chester, 17 grandchildren, one greatgrandchild.
Interment was in St. Peter
Lutheran Cemetery.
