"I Received a letter on yesterday from John which affected my feelings a great deal that was in conserquence of the Death of our Poor Dear little neice Rebecca Ann Burgin. She has Been at my house fore two or three days and on the first day of this month She was with my children in my horse Mill walking Round after the oxen and Stoped apposit one of the outside Posts and the end of the arme or Brace that which the oxen worked too caught her head against the post and mashed it all to peaces Poor little dear Creature never saw what hurt her I thought almost as much of her as one of my own I hope She -- is this day in eternal happoiness"
NOTE. The John that Davey refers to is believed to be John Edmundson of Gibson County, TN who was my great-grear-great grandfather and father-in-law to Matilda Burgin, daughter of Abner Burgin, who was married to my great-great grandfather Michael Israel Edmundson.
