Funeral service for Donald G. Poolaw, 87, Lawton, will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Doug Passmore, pastor, First Baptist East officiating.
Mr. Poolaw died Thursday in Lawton.
Burial with military honors will be in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
Mr. Poolaw was born September 5, 1923 in Carnegie, Oklahoma, to Ralph and Minnie Poolaw. He graduated from Riverside Indian School and later from the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee. He married Thelma Inkanish in 1952 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1982.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II primarily in the Aleutian Islands. He retired from the Army National Guard and was also retired from Civil Service at Fort Sill.
He is survived by a daughter and son in law, Donna Poolaw-Walters and Cliff, Lawton; three sons and daughters in law, Billy and Sherry Poolaw, Lawton, Gleason and Julie Poolaw, Fullerton, California, and Michael and Mary Poolaw, Tustin, California; 15 grandchildren, Jennifer Walters, James Walters and Krystal, Billy Poolaw, Jr., Brandi Poolaw, Crystal Gabriel, Briana Russell, Bryson Perdasofpy, Christian Perdasofpy, Dakota Poolaw, Dawson Poolaw, Cheyenne Poolaw, Gleason Poolaw-Grover, Michael Poolaw, Jr. and Michelle Albin; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Jack Poolaw, Oakland, California; a half brother, Ralph Poolaw, Anadarko; several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends from 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
