The Richland Mirror (Richland, Missouri) 1 February 1923, no page numbers printed:

"Departed this life Jan. 24, 1923, being 28 years, 4 months, and 20 days old. He leaves a wife and two children, Naoma, 9 years old and Billy, two years old, a father and mother and two sisters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Two brothers had preceded him into the great beyond.

Deceased enlisted in 27, Co. E of Engineers in the U. S. Army June 14, 1918 and served until April 4, 1919. He put in 8 months of this service in France, meeting with the misfortune of being gassed which effected his lungs and resulted in his death.

He was converted in May 1922, and united with the First Baptist Church of Joplin, Mo. He bore his sufferings patiently, leaning on Jesus for strength. We sorrow not as those who have no hope. But we wait with patience till we meet in our heavenly home. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jesse O. Brown in the Baptist church of Richland and his body laid to rest in the Richland cemetery, January 26, 1923."
