Donald was a native Missourian, but spent most of his life in Kansas. He had a broad background geographically and musically. From early 1943 to 1945, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II, and was stationed in the South Pacific as a radio operator aboard a B-24. His musical background was diverse and extensive. He studied piano, violin and voice, was a member of several orchestras and choirs, and worked for nearly 40 years as a teacher and print music coordinator for Hume Music.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at West Side Christian Church. Private inurnment will be at Armstrong-Case Cemetery near Atchison.
