FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Willa Belle (Lee) Allen, 74, of Fort Ashby, formerly of Springfield, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Memorial Hospital. Born July 18, 1924, in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Alec R. and Nannie (Hartman) Lee.

She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter; one brother, Alec Lee Jr.; and two sisters, Lorena Eckenrode and Helen Canan.

Mrs. Allen had been employed as a cook at Country Roads, Dowden’s and the W&B restaurants. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James Franklin Allen; one daughter, Norma Hershberger and husband Harold, Fort Ashby; one son, James Edward Allen and wife Cindy, Inwood; five grandchildren, Jodi Bettencourt, Andy Hershberger, Jason Allen, Bethany Allen and Jamie Allen; and three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Skye and Shelby.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc.,Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday.

The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Delbert Poling officiating.

Interment will be in the Fort Ashby Cemetery.
