Milton was the son of Stephen & Sally (Ellis) Leavitt
and married to Samantha Jane Nash. They had 6 known children, Fred Volney, mrd. Mabel A., Addie M, Ida M. mrd. Marcus E. Keith, Charles D., Lilla M mrd. Mr. Nash and Bertha J. mrd. Sewell W Spencer.
Also engraved on this stone are his wife S.Jane, sons Fred V. with wife Mabel A., Charles D and Henry M.

During the Civil War, he served in Co. I, 23rd Maine Infantry, 29 Sept 1862 to 4 Feb 1863 (receiving a disability discharge).
