Pete was born in Apache, OK. He lived in Nocona, TX in 1976, moving from Wichita Falls, TX. He retired from civil service at Sheppards Air Force Base after 37 years of service. He was a sheet metalist and a Methodist. He was past president of the North Texas Gem and Mineral Society and was a Boy Scout Troop leader for Troop No. 135. He received the Order of the Arrow Award.

He married Audrey Crooks Hand on November 2, 1973.

He has two (2) daughters, Terile Hedges, and Eberle Smith, a son, Ken Peters, a sister, Metha Hoyer and three (3) grandchildren.
