The Cemetery is a short distance away from the old Rufus Devane (1798-1865) house which is in complete decay. It is at the edge of the woods on the H.B. Herring farm (1980). Take highway 41 North into Sampson Co., NC. Make a right hand turn onto Rt. 1119 (the John Devane & Richard Herring historical marker for their gun factory is on corner). Travel a few miles and the Herring farm will be on the left. Take the dirt cart road through field to edge of woods to cemetery. There are many graves here that are unmarked.
Some of the land that Thomas Devane (1803-1847) inherited was known as "Old Fields".
