Bill Moody, 89, of Oldfield, died Aug. 2, 2011. He was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Oldfield, the son of Thomas and Lula Mae (Landers) Moody.

Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Nov. 15, 1943, he and Vanna Eversole were united in marriage. In 1946 Bill became a member of the Church of Christ. He served as an Elder for the Oldfield Church of Christ.

During his working career, Bill was a welder for Reynolds Manufacturing Company in Springfield. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include: His wife, Vanna; a daughter, Debra Peak and husband Tom, Oldfield; three grandchildren, Rebecca Braden and husband Rick, Oldfield, Laura Perkins and husband Randy, Nixa, and William Peak, Springfield; a great-grandson, Thomas Braden; other relatives and many friends He was preceded in death by a daughter, Violet Jewel Weaver; three brothers and a sister, Jessie Moody, Jewel Coffer, Jay Moody, and Herschel Moody; and his parents.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Aug. 4, in the Oldfield Church of Christ with Byron Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Old Boston Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 3 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
