Brunswick- Jasper Ronald "J.R." Flowers, 72, of Brunswick died early Wednesday morning (August 3, 2011) at Hospice of the Golden Isles after an extended illness.

Born in Hortense, GA his parents were Lee Ross and Onie Lynn Sloan Flowers. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harvey and Lawrence Flowers and a sister, Linda Morgan.

J.R. was an electrician for GA Pacific and served in the United States Navy. He also was an honorary member of Jamaica Hunting Club, loved gardening and was a very sociable person.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Mathis Flowers of Brunswick; 4 children and their spouses, James Ronald Flowers (Shari) of Brunswick, Tammy Flowers Bland (Jerry) of Helena, GA, Lori Flowers Underwood of Brunswick and Steven Lawrence Flowers (Stephanie) of Brunswick; 8 grandchildren, Chad Crews (Johari) of San Francisco, CA,, Justin Lee Flowers, Craig Allen Flowers, Christopher Lovett, Joshua Underwood, Ryan Adam Flowers and Taylor Marie Flowers all of Brunswick and Amanda Henderson of Waycross; 3 great grandchildren, Raven Crews and Kyla Henderson both of Waycross and Brandy Underwood of Brunswick; 8 brothers and sisters and their spouses, Elbert & Wanda Flowers, Lillian Roberson, Lloyd & Sherry Flowers, Ross & Janet Flowers, Pat & Gene Oglesby and Wendell Flowers all of Hortense, Howard Flowers of Brunswick and Frances & Bob Manners of Pelion S.C.; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening (August 4, 2011) from 6-8PM at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

A funeral service will be held Friday morning (August 5, 2011) at 10:30AM at the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Hinton Johnson, Rev. James "Jimmy" Walden and Rev. Charles Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in Hortense Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Sears, Ronald Altman, Jr., Michael Chanclor, Chris Keller, Thomas Underwood and Donnie O'Quinn. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis and Jason Flowers.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway Brunswick, GA 31525.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
