She is actually Annie Bell Sumner - her father was Benjamin F. Sumner and her mother Dice Elizabeth Jackson. Dice Elizabeth Jackson Sumner married 2nd William Davidson and in the 1900 census Annie Belle (and her sister Mamie) is listed with last name of Davidson - but her true maiden name is Sumner. If you have Ancestry.com the Social Security Applications and Claims entry for her shows her father as "Dock" Sumners and mother as Dice E. Jackson. ("Dock" was Benjamin F. Sumners nickname). I've been doing a lot of research on the Sumner family. In the early 1860's her grandfather, Sandy Sumner, ran Sumners Stage Coach Station (later called Cashins) in area that became Dove (just south of Atascadero). In late 1860's moved to property he acquired from Mariano Bonilla on the Cuesta Grade where he operated one of the first grist mills in San Luis Obispo. Annie Belle's father, Benjamin J. Sumner, was killed in an accident on the Cuesta Grade on April 5, 1893 when horses bolted and he was run over by the wagon (SLO Morning Tribune 4/6/1893). Marriage of Benjamin F. Sumner and Dice E. Jackson is in Book A Page 433 of SLO Marriage Records - July 30, 1881 - and also in the Weekly Tribune 8/6/1881. If you can correct this record that would be great. Thanks. Pam Parsons
