Obituary for Caroline read: "MRS. A.J. DUNAVAN OF UNION CORNER IS DEAD (July 1926)-Funeral will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Mrs. A.J. Dunavan, 60, life long resident of Union Corner, five miles southeast of Danville, died suddenly at her country home Thursday morning at 2 o'clock. Her death came unexpectedly and was a shock to many in Vermilion County, where she is well known.

About 11 years ago, Mrs. Dunavan went to the Mayo hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, where she had a goiter removed. The operation was apparently successful. However, for the past three years, she was ailing with throat trouble and in May when she went to Colorado to visit a son and daughter, she was attacked by severe choking spells.

On July 4, she returned to her home and since that time had suffered attacks of throat trouble. Wednesday, she seemed to be in the best of health, attended a social meeting in the afternoon and was apparently in the best of spirits until about 8 o'clock in the evening, when she complained of a choking spell coming upon her. The spell was fatal and she succumbed at 2 o'clock Thursday morning.

Mrs. Dunavan was born June 15, 1866, near Union Corner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cravens. November 12, 1882, she married to Anderson J. Dunavan and nine children, all loving, were born to this union. They are Ora Dunavan and Mrs. Ben Hughes of Sugar City, Colorado; Arlie of Oakwood; Mrs. Roy Esworthy of Yates City, Illinois; Fred of Butternut; Willis and Ben of Danville, and Elva and Albert, residing at home. She also leaves two brothers, Harmon Cravens of Jenkins Ford; Charles Cravens of Danville; a sister, Mrs. Mollie Ramsey of Georgetown, and 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon 3 o'clock at the home. Rev. R.N. Lawlyes of Georgetown will officiate. Burial will be in the Niccum Cemetery in that vicinity. Undertaker Boord of Covington is in charge of the body.

For 15 years the Dunavans lived on the Georgetown road at a point near the Hegeler Road, where they conducted a large dairy farm."
