Clara Elizabeth Baechler married an itinerant Baptist Preacher named John William Neyman. They moved fairly often as he accepted calls to different churches, taking them to small towns in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and even Walla Walla Washington, where they birthed and buried a young son. Clara was a very devoted partner in her husband's ministry, leading Sunday Schools, prayer meetings, choirs, and other duties in her husband's churches. Although her death certificate does not list it as such, JW Neyman's brief journal entries indicate that just days before her death, she was doing "poorly" and ended up having four teeth pulled. Four days later she died. It is our suspicion that rampant infection due to her teeth was the cause of her heart failure, in this time prior to penicillin.
