Son of Josephine Richey and Edmund "Tobe" Edwards.

Following the murder of Clarence's father at Zimmerman, he and his brother Simon moved southward in the vicinity of Calcasieu and the Stanley District where they became well known members of the community. They had been living with John Calvit and his wife in 1900; after the death (some have speculated murder) of Josephine Richey, Tobe Edwards remarried to Elizabeth "Bess" Walters who was the sister of Clarence's wife Alice.

About the time of WWI, Clarence was involved in an accident by which part of his foot was severed on a rail line. He filed suit against the Rapides Lumber Co., Inc. in the Rapides Parish Court. Clarence had been employed as a fireman on the logging rail lines. He was moving from one car to the next when his foot slipped causing him to fall in front of the car resulting in his foot getting run over and his toes severed. My grandmother, Versie (Walters) Carruth, said that Clarence would scare kids by takin' off his boot sometimes which she thought was funny. My mother also related this story to me.

Clarence was to married Alice Walters and had two children: Everette and Rachel.

He was an active hunter and raised dogs which he loved.
