Louis Lawrence Miller was born on July 18, 1911 on a farm south of Alexandria. He is the fourth child of Percy T. and Mary (Naiman) Miller. He departed this life on February 10, 2007 at Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron, NE, at the age of 95 years.

As a child he attended rural school district 22, later going to Belvidere consolidated school. When he was young, the family lived northeast of Belvidere and worked on the family farm. On February 1,1929 he was united in marriage to Lena A. Eden of Belvidere at Fairbury Ne To this union three children were born. After their marriage they moved to Jefferson County where he was engaged in farming. In 1943 the family moved to Hebron, NE where Lou was associated with Kenner Farms. Be loved to show cattle, good cattle, and had many stories to share of those experiences. In 1953 the family home was completely demolished in the tornado at which time Lou was working for West Bro Construction Co. of Fairmont, NE working on the new gym that was being built and subsequently was involved in the new high school. In 1957 he and his wife began working for the Hebron Public School system a position he held for 29 years.

He belonged to the Nebraska Custodian’s Association, retiring in 1986.

In 1960 they moved to their home at 135 N 10th which remained his home until summer of 2003. After 58 years of marriage his wife Lena passed away on March 13, 1987. On Sept 8, 1990 he was united in marriage to Maxine Kenley at the First Christian Church in Hebron, NE. In the summer of 2003 they moved to the Assisted Living in Hebron and in January of 2005 to Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home. At the time of his death he was the oldest living member of the First Christian Church having been baptized in June of 1944 by Rev. E E Smith. Lou was a faithful member and served many years as a deacon, a short time as Elder, and a member of the board over the years. He received and held the title of Deacon Emeritus at the time of his death. He loved a good story and also liked to tell an occasional story. He loved small children, especially his great-grand children and had many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Lena, one daughter LaDonna Huber, 4 brothers; Francis, Paul, Harry, Elvin, and three sisters; Leona Pfingsten, Leora Miller, Hazel Barney.

He is survived by his wife Maxine of Hebron, NE, two sons; Donald and wife Irene of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jerald and wife Mary Lou of St. Louis, MO, and son-in-law Marlowe Huber and wife Shirley of Hebron, NE, two step-daughters Phylis Braswell and husband Jim of Hebron, NE, Shirley Rakowsky and husband Farrell of Clearmont, FL, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 13, 2007 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Hebron, NE, officiant Rev. Steven Speichinger, organist Judy Kassebaum, soloist Jessica Saunders singing “Amazing Grace”, congregational hymns “Rock Of Ages” and “How Great Thou Art”, casket bearers Douglas Huber, Donald W. Miller, Dale Miller, Gailon Schoenrock, Christopher Huber, Michael Huber, visitation will be Monday February 12, from 9 AM to 7 PM at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home in Hebron, NE. Burial will be in Hebron City Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers to First Christian Church in Hebron, NE and Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron, NE. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
