The Wead family lived in a one-bedroom cottage with a screened front-porch facing Pensacola Bay. The Wead family consisted of LTjg Frank "Spig" Wilbur Wead, USN, student aviator, his wife- Mrs. Minnie "Minn" (Bryant) Wead, and their one infant son less than a yr old- nicknamed "Commodore Wead".

Their son died of complications resulting from a fever, sometime between Oct 1919 and May 1920. It is a theory that their neighbor residing several houses away on the same bay front property was the presiding physician who pronounced the death of this infant boy- Dr. N. S. Quinn, MD.
