James Edward Archer enlisted in the US Army Air Corps on 14 Jan 1942 in Houston, Texas.

Following WWII, he worked for International Harvester, starting his life in the automobile business. After International Harvester, Mr. Archer opened a used car lot on Washington Avenue. Successful at this venture, he opened a new car business in 1956 with Archer Motors, 5011 Kirby Drive. At his death the enterprise had grown many times to now being several dealerships and very successful.

Mr. Archer was past president of River Oaks Lions Club, past president of Houston Automobile Dealers Association, former member of American Motor Dealers Council and many other honors and awards.
