Son of William Henderson Pounds and Martha Ruth Anderson.

JOEL DAYTON "DATE" POUNDS

FUNERAL SERVICE WAS HELD SUNDAY

Funeral service was held Sunday at the Methodist church for Joel Dayton Pounds, aged resident of this community who died Thursday, September 18. Mrs. Pounds and his family came to Yuma County about 4 years ago and made their home southwest of Yuma. He was born Nov. 27, 1859. He was preceded in death by his wife May 4, 1942 (1941). [Children are named, illegible here, however they are listed in his wife, Elizabeth's obituary: Mrs. Beckie (Pounds) Burgess, Smith Center, Kansas; Lewis Earl Pounds, Douglas, Wyoming; Joe Leonard Pounds, Roseburg, Oregon; Mrs. Flossie (Pounds) Briggs, Lyman, Nebraska; Charles Henry Pounds, Yuma. Preceded in death by one daughter, Sarah Ann Pounds.

Joe Pounds is back to Smith Center again.

He had been out with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Date Pounds, in Yuma county, Colorado, and later at Riverton, Nebraska.

He will stay here for a while, until after harvest is over anyway.

Earl Pounds came home, last Friday from a two weeks visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Date Pounds, near Cope, Colorado. He says the Yumaites are all feeling fine and
have prospects for bumper crops the coming season.
