John Nell "Johnnie" Mathis age 77 of Snyder, TX, died July 30, 2011 at Snyder Oaks Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Services for Mrs. Mathis will be at 10AM Tuesday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home with Rev. James Merrill officiating. Interment will follow at 1 PM at Albany Cemetery in Albany, TX under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mathis was born on February 12, 1934 in Ged, Louisiana to William Huey and Ione Denby(Nye)Johnston. She married Billie Mathis on September 12, 1952 in Houma, Louisiana. She had lived in Snyder since 1965. She worked at Stinson Drug as a soda jerk for 20 years dressing up for every holiday and entertaining the public. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Methodist Church and also loved doing pencil sketches and art. She graduated from Terrebonne High School in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana and attended Ranger Junior College where she earned her associates degree. To her family, she was "Ma Bear".
