Peter, a Lutheran farmer of 400 acres, married Susannah Milliron on 20 Jun 1797 in Westmoreland Co., PA. They named their children: Peter Simon, John Daniel, Sarah, Gillian, Catherine, Adam, David, Lewis, Leah and Absalom Beighley.

Peter served as a private in the 138 PA regument during the War of 1812.

Peter is buried in what was the Old Stone Church near Peter's house, the corner stone of which was placed June 24, 1829, on the site of old ZION's log cabin.

Peter and Henry Beighley and John Bastian formed the building committee for the church. It was practically completed in 1830, but a fire destroyed the seats and benches. The new work was tedious, so that the society did not occupy the building until St. John's day, in 1831.
