Caroline Brewster, 104, Smith alumnae
Northampton – Caroline Brewster, 104, of Old South Street, said to be the oldest living graduate of Smith College, died Monday in a local nursing home.
A native of Northampton, she was graduated from Smith in 1896.
Miss Brewster taught school in New Mexico, and at the old Mary Burnham School for Girls, and later was a mathematician for Columbia, NY, Astronautical Laboratories.
She also was the oldest member of St John’s Episcopal Church.
She leaves a sister, Helen Allured of Northampton.
The funeral will be Saturday in the church with burial in Bridge Street Cemetery. Charles R Dutton Funeral Home is in charge. Donations may be made to the church.
