Edward John Coonrad was a supervisor of the tailoring department at St. Lawrence State Hospital for 27 1/2 years, retiring in 1924. He died after a long period of failing health.

He was survived by his third wife, Leah Kelly Coonrad, two sons, Ralph of Philadelphia and Harold of Ogdensburg, and one brother, Judson Coonrad of Montevediio, Uruguay. Two wives died before him, Estella Phoebe Pugh Coonrad in 1905 and Mary Chaney Coonrad in 1913).
