Was born and reared on a farm near Breaux Bridge, and followed the occupation of a farmer until his twenty-first year, when he decided, that he could better his condition by engaging in other pursuits, and after knocking about for a short time, he entered the employ of his brother Rayne. The business proving unsuccessful, after a year, he returned to his farm and took hold of the plow handle and remained there for two years, but to one of his restless and energetic spirit this of life became oppressively monotonous, and he again determined to seek other fields. He bought a small place in Breaux Bridge and opened a grocery business, which provided so much more successful that he had to enlarge his premise accommodate his growing business. He is a self-made man in every sense of the word, and one of the most successful and progressive men of his growing town.
