Billie Gene Dean, age 69, of Noel, died Wednesday, January 29, 1997, at Gravette (Arkansas) Medical Center after an illness.

He was born Febtuary 12, 1927, at Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of William D. and Bertha Jane (Derckworth) Dean.

He was a lifetime resident of the Four-State Area.

He was a self-employed laborer.

He was a member of the Church of the Ozarks, Noel.

He was a U. S. Army Veteran.

He and Betty Pope were married June 13, 1960, at Southwest City.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Terry Dean of Georgia, Larry Dean of California, Gerald Dean and Billy Dean both of Oregon, Danny Dean of Noel, Michael Dean of Pineville and Kiale Dean of Southwest City; four daughters, Tina Riley of Noel, Kim Estes of Baxter Springs, Kansas, Lisa Anderson of Southwest City and Vivian Haynes of Winona; four step-sons, Ralph Shorter, Harry Junior Shorter, Randle Shorter, and Harold Shorter; a step-daughter, Cristy Dean; four foster children; five adopted children; 54 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 7:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at Ozark Funeral Home, Noel..

Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Church of the Ozarksin Noel. Leslie Osburn, brother, will officiate.

Burial will be in Southwest City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kiale Dean, Gant Sanders, Thomas Garcia, Michael Dean, Ralph Shorter and Danny Dean.
