In December of that year, Celia married William Jefferson Lee, son of Cader Lee, in Clarksville, Arkansas. William Jefferson Lee was a widower, as he had lost his spouse a short time earlier in 1850. William Jefferson's first wife was Gillentine Cooper before they married, so she was probably related to Celia Cooper Carter's family in some way.
William Jefferson and Gillentine had several young children at the time of her death. Celia became a mother to those children and helped finish raising them.
Celia and William Jefferson were also the proud parents of three boys of their own together. They were:
Kennedy C. Lee, b. abt. 1852 in Johnson County, AR
Milton Newton Lee, b. Dec. 23, 1853, Johnson County, AR
Ebenezer N. Lee, b. 1857 in AR
