At 9:28 p.m. July 30,2011, my mother passed away. She had suffered a stroke on July 27, 2011 and that along with her having Alzheimer's was too much for her body to take. I was beside her bed with my wife, sisters and their husbands when she died and it was a peaceful passing. We love her dearly, and will miss her greatly.

STATESBORO - Mrs. Nell Turner Banks, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2011, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia.
A native of Waynesboro, Ga., Nell was married for 44 years to Lansdell Banks, residing in Savannah, Georgia, until 1990 when she moved to Statesboro. Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Lansdell; and her brother, Cecil Turner of Waynesboro, Ga. She was the daughter of Rosa and William Hugh Turner, also of Waynesboro.
Mrs. Banks leaves memories to be cherished by her sister, Jean (Bob) Daniel of Aiken, S.C.; another sister, Nita Hall of Statesboro; a sister in-law, Francis Turner of Waynesboro; two daughters and a son, Janice (John) Roach of Andalusia, Alabama, Beverly (Hadley) Campbell of Statesboro and Craig (Tonya) Banks, also of Statesboro. Her beloved grandchildren are: Sophie Banks, Jill Bryant, Julie Moore, Jennifer, Jeff and Matthew Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Anabell Bryant, Kate Mock and Jillian Moore.
Nell was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Savannah. There, she actively volunteered and was Sunday School teacher for the 3-year-olds for more than 25 years. Devoted to her entire family, she regularly attended the annual Ansley family reunion in Georgia. Another passion was for her flowers and plants; her green thumb a witness to the world as a caretaker of God's gifts.
Pallbearers will be Jon Moore, David Bryant, Steven Hall, Jeff Campbell, Matthew Campbell and Jared Mock.
Visitation was held at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, August 1st.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2nd, at Pittman Park United Methodist Church in Statesboro with the Rev. Tim Steffan officiating.
The graveside ceremony will be at 2 p.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery, Waynesboro, Ga., with the Rev. Marion Britton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459; or to the memorial fund at the church of their choosing.
